How Nuclear Will Unlock Energy Abundance with Valar Atomics Founder Isaiah Taylor
No Priors · 2026-07-02
Speaker 1 | 00:00 - 00:05
Welcome to War two fifty, first advanced reactor to ever make power by startup.
Speaker 2 | 00:06 - 00:15
We did something pretty awesome today. The first ever AI chip powered by a nuclear reactor. First Triso reactor to turn on in over fifty years in The United States.
Speaker 3 | 00:15 - 00:26
How much of the premise of Valor is possible now comes from increasing demands for power in The United States largely driven by AI compute?
Speaker 2 | 00:26 - 00:46
Energy being a commodity, the demand is set by the price. If you can figure out how to make energy cheaper, …

- How I’m getting the most out of Fable before July 7:
- Prep context with cheaper models
- Plan with Fable, execute with another model
- Use lower effort, like Medium, and babysit what Fable is doing

- Thought I’d share a fun activity I did with my 8-year-old daughter and Codex today:
She drew a picture of a dragon.
We uploaded her drawing to Codex and used image gen to make a few more dragon poses. She used voice to give Codex feedback until we got the result below.
We sent it to customstickers(dot)com to print sticker sheets (it’s about $20 for 10 sheets).
Now she can share her stickers with her friends when they arrive in the mail next week. Try it if you have kids stuck at home this summer :) [38 ❤️ 2 🔄]

- We’ve been explaining AI Gateway as a C̶o̶n̶t̶e̶n̶t̶ Token Delivery Network. Like a CDN for AI models.
One great feature of CDNs is the ability to dynamically re-route or deny traffic without redeployment.
When Fable was suddenly retired, we worried about production workloads depending on it. Even Fable aside, models get retired quite often as GPU capacity is heavily contested. Yet our data shows people still having happy production traffic of older model versions!
We’re solving this now with AI Gateway Rules. e.g.: you can now rewrite model “routes” on the fly!
𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚌𝚎𝚕 𝚊𝚒-𝚐𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚠𝚊𝚢 𝚛𝚞𝚕𝚎𝚜 𝚊𝚍𝚍
–𝚝𝚢𝚙𝚎 𝚛𝚎𝚠𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚎
–𝚜𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚌𝚎 𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚙𝚒𝚌/𝚌𝚕𝚊𝚞𝚍𝚎-𝚏𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎-𝟻
–𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚙𝚒𝚌/𝚌𝚕𝚊𝚞𝚍𝚎-𝚘𝚙𝚞𝚜-𝟻
This adds to the repertoire of capabilities and techniques AI Gateway brings to the table to recover lost tokens. If you drop tokens, you lose revenue and customers 💸
Kudos to @rtaneja_ @crowprose @shaper – we went from CLI design to production-grade capability very quickly! [234 ❤️ 14 🔄]
- Private connectivity between services is 🔑 for backends.
1️⃣ Register 𝚋𝚒𝚗𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐𝚜 in 𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚌𝚎𝚕.𝚓𝚜𝚘𝚗 (1LOC)
2️⃣ Read it:
𝚗𝚎𝚠 𝚄𝚁𝙻(“/𝚊𝚙𝚒”, 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚌𝚎𝚜𝚜.𝚎𝚗𝚟.𝙱𝙰𝙲𝙺𝙴𝙽𝙳_𝙸𝙽𝚃𝙴𝚁𝙽𝙰𝙻_𝚄𝚁𝙻)
Works for Node, Python, 𝙳𝚘𝚌𝚔𝚎𝚛𝚏𝚒𝚕𝚎… you name it [279 ❤️ 6 🔄]

- The deployment of AI in the enterprise beyond just interacting with a chatbot will unequivocally take real work to align AI systems to the underlying business processes they’re involved in and drive the desired outcomes.
Most workflows weren’t designed for AI agents to just drop into. Workflows today in the enterprise deal with fragmented data, legacy software systems that agents can’t connect with, institutional instead of documented knowledge, and more.
To deploy agents reliably at scale you need to get data cleaned up, modernize IT systems, figure out evals, drive change management for the new end state process, and so on. This also involves designing where humans remain in the loop (which will mean entirely new ways people interact with the workflows), and figuring out what a company’s new IP looks like.
This is why so many applied AI companies are expanding FDE efforts and launching deploycos, and why the FDE role will be one of the most critical jobs in tech going forward. There’s a tremendous amount of work to be done on this front. [151 ❤️ 13 🔄]

- It’s AGI summer and I’m seeing plenty of “tourists” who are visiting SF - just like last year..
And, then they go back and say SF has no soul, it’s just 996 culture and it’s just AI. Also it’s dirty and smells - and did you notice the homeless?
While there is some truth to ALL the claims, you really shouldn’t judge this city on a few days (or honestly even weeks).
Don’t be a tourist, and spend time here. Booms and busts will happen. But, it really can be wonderful. And if it’s not for you, then it’s not for you. Go make the place you’re going back to all that you want it to be.
