How Sam Altman Uses Dots to Take Back His Time
AI & I by Every · 2026-10-01
Do you do all your prompting on Ultrafast?
I do.
That’s sick.
Yeah.
That’s crazy.
You know, seven people’s dots can, working together, create something new that kind of existed in all of our heads to some degree, but was like an emergent thing.
Hey, this is Dan Shipper.
You might be wondering what happened to AI and I.
This is the same show, we are just rebranding it to the Every Podcast.
I’m really excited for our first episode with Sam Waltman.
Here it is.
Sam, welcome to the show.
Thanks for having me.
Psyched to have you here.
So we’re here at Dev Day.
I think if you had tol…

- I’ve learned from Lenny for years, but we had never met. What you see is what you get with him: he’s kind, prepared, and deeply curious. Great interviewers do their homework, and you can tell he’s in that league: he took our conversation to places that I’ve never talked about in public. Enjoy the first 60 minutes of us getting to chat together.
Thank you @lennysan ! [342 ❤️ 15 🔄]

- @Blizzard_Ent I bet if Blizzard crowdfunds Starcraft 3 RTS they’ll raise millions [3 ❤️]
- So many people’s childhoods were defined by StarCraft even Ben.
Still can’t believe the new game won’t come out till 2030.
@Blizzard_Ent should double down on this franchise. Make movies, TV shows, and yes a real time strategy game! [61 ❤️ 1 🔄]
- Here’s a clip of me explaining why Grok @bot is my favorite agent right now.
tl;dr It’s built on personas instead of chat threads, so it really feels like hiring employees to work for you. Each owns a specific job:
→ Behind the Growth owns customer support
→ YouTube Producer owns research and prep
→ Loving Husband owns errands for my family
→ Health Coach keeps my workouts on track

- Coding CLIs keep getting more complicated. Daemons, 3 layers of TUIs, client-server architectures.
The whole point of a CLI is to deliver intelligence with zero friction, and be unix-like.
💾 Try It’s 6mb, starts in milliseconds, model-agnostic. It’s tastefully minimal: MCP, Skills, Subagents and ACP built-in. [539 ❤️ 27 🔄]

- Ok this is quite cool research and ultimately must be the eventual architecture of agents. In the limit, AI will obviously be better at determining its own harness once it sees the task at hand, than us being able to do this in advance: [289 ❤️ 22 🔄]
- What a crazy time in AI with Meta now jumping fully into the frontier. Now that there are multiple players pushing the state of the art, this is going to lead to a further acceleration of advances, as well as the lowering cost of tokens for even the highest levels of capability. [487 ❤️ 32 🔄]
- Agent swarms are going to be a core part of many enterprise workflows in the future. The ability to throw compute at problems that you can massively parallelize will be too useful to not take advantage of.
Cyber will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this as it’s a space where testing vast number of permutations of attacks (without getting tired or bored) is an incredibly useful property. You have a wide search space of possible risk vectors and you generally need to be able to chain together different scenarios to achieve the exploit.
This will become one of the biggest token uses in large enterprises given the range of IT systems, software, physical infrastructure, and data that needs to be protected at all times. Super interesting times in cyber. [159 ❤️ 23 🔄]

- I just heard the most touching AI coding story.
A friend @vicyaqingyang grew up in a modest home full of cockroaches. To turn lemons into lemonade, her mom made killing them a game.
When she told this story to another friend, that friend vibe coded a game from it. You catch cockroaches in a room and compete against Mom.
She cried while playing it.
The game isn’t technically sophisticated. Any model can build it pretty quickly now. What gives it a soul is the human story, experience, and emotion behind it.
Code is the new medium for storytelling. [64 ❤️ 1 🔄]

- I used muse wonder to make a video explaining personal benchmarks..

interestingly all of its videos so far are narrated in an Australian accent. I’ll leave interpretation to the reader [43 ❤️ 1 🔄]

Aditya Agarwal (@adityaag)
- There is a big delta in how frontier lab employees use AI and how even the top 1% of AI orgs use AI.
This is on public capabilities…I suspect this delta will exist for a while..
I also feel like there is a company opportunity in here that is a horizontal accelerant. [42 ❤️ 3 🔄]
