- yeah you ignored a @mntruell email in 2024 but did you pitch something like Claude Code in 2019 and then…. not do it for 7 years [53 ❤️ 1 🔄]
- at spacex ipo everyone was posting their cursor bag fumble.
kid stuff.
my turn.
i estimate this was a $500m bag fumble lol. and very probably wouldve been on claude code early (bc i’ve been a typescript cli maintainer). fml. [1437 ❤️ 7 🔄]

- Other hiring practices that need to change:
Filtering candidates based on years of experience or some company name
Prioritizing resumes and cover letters over proof of work and real projects
Listing number of people managed as an accomplishment by itself
Endless rounds of interviews over short work trials
I could go on. [16 ❤️]
- If you’re going to make videos about some made-up ARR then just be a satirical media company.
I’d respect that. [12 ❤️]
- I just tried the most incredible Grok @bot feature today it was one of my favorite (and funniest) moments with AI in recent memory.
It’s not quite launched to everyone but should be coming very soon.
I’m going to make a video on just this feature. Subscribe here to get it soon: [65 ❤️ 1 🔄]

- feels like there needs to be a new way to distribute opensource software such that people can modify via agents but also get upstream automatically merged in
coding agents can do this but they won’t do it automatically [2465 ❤️ 53 🔄]
- this is the kind of HCI work I’ve been wanting to do for a while, but messing with OS internals has always been very time consuming
not sharing yet, there are still many edge cases (would not recommend using), but fun to experiment with! [628 ❤️ 2 🔄]
- experimenting with a lil personal project: an AI-native macOS dock with custom modes (writing, building, etc.) to help me stay focused
my agent is able to customize mode behavior and add new modes, it uses jev to classify my activity + notifications in real time & act on them [8262 ❤️ 215 🔄]

- If I’m investing in frontier AI I would underwrite it mostly on new discovery and its applications like medicine because coding and most of knowledge work is quickly being saturated by sub-frontier models. [592 ❤️ 31 🔄]

- This is correct. The vast majority of enterprise workflows have not actually had agents applied to them in any meaningful way. The economy probably has this deployed < 1% right now.
At best you have a few automated systems in a company that do a single pass of an LLM to make a decision or provide feedback, but very little real “automation”. Some of this is a statement about the adoption rates of technology in enterprises, but the vast majority of it is really just due to the capability of AI itself.
That’s all changing. Now with computer use, long running agents, harness improvements and surrounding infrastructure, we’re finally at a point where we can start to apply agents at more complex workflows.
We will see self-improving systems that can take any particular workflow goal and improve the execution rates over a volume of instances. And with the emerging form factor of agent swarms, you can just choose to deploy any amount of compute at a problem and agents will off and do the work.
This won’t be about and users prompting agents to complete a specific task for them, but instead the organization reengineering the underlying workflows to take advantage of agents in their processes. This will have a massive impact in finance, life sciences, healthcare, and other information-heavy domains. Lots of opportunity to build and deploy these systems right now. [186 ❤️ 10 🔄]

- Usual startup advice: too many co-founders is bad!!! Too much dilution! Founder friction risk! Analysis paralysis!
Also:
Anthropic: 7 co-founders
OpenAI: 11 co-founders
Databricks: 7 co-founders [220 ❤️ 11 🔄]

- VCs love talking about the number of cofounders and how sometimes there’s too many..
@AnthropicAI x @databricks both with 7 cofounders showing that the best startups are truly outliers.
All the definitions of the “right” way of identifying or building startups are wrong.
There’s no “right” way, there’s only the way that works for you! [97 ❤️ 4 🔄]
- Things I have a pretty decent idea about but I still have to go deep on since I’ll get 10 wildly different definitions…
long horizon
out of distribution (esp data)
intelligence per watt
rl environments
“forward deployed”
revenue
“frontier”
self improving
Sure, some of these are rightfully subjective, but you’d be surprised at the variance of the responses 😅 [41 ❤️]
